Yahoo email tech support gave my son a phone number to call for email support after he could not log in or change his yahoo password. He called and a foriegn gibberish speaking man saying he was yahoo email tech support frm MaxPc, would "clean" his computers and disinfect them for 300.00, my son is no computer guru and trusted Yahoo. This company actually took control of my sons 2 mac laptops as he watched and cleaned him out.
I was not available and have worked with the computer industry since 1989. Now my son is 300.00 short, still has a yahoo email log in problem and I am afraid that both laptops are infected with malware. I am disinfecting them today, have changed his ip address and set up a stronger firewall. I am doing away with any online email public program and setting him up with his own email firewall encrypted program today. My concern is how deeply embedded could this mavlware be? Any ideas? Thank you, one really irate Dad
