recved letter and cashiers check from Sherway Marketing for $986.58 Advised to go to WAL-MART get a MONEYPAK card for $924.00, call them with the recipt number and then they would close and release a check for the balance of $9,700 along with a 1099 and send out via FEDEX.
Called bank that check was drawn upon (BBVA Compass) to verify check. Was advised that this was not legitimate and this was a scam.
Donot respond to a request like this. It could take up to 30 days for a cashier check to clear and bounce back and you could be out the amoun that was placed in a MONEYPAK card.
