We hired GMS to cover our small wedding in a very quaint venue in Baltimore City where we live; May 2013. The event took place in a small wine cellar in an old early 19th century Nautical Inn owned by Admiral Fell himself. We bought and contracted for the Basic package. Here’s what GMS lists for the video: 2 DVD's covering your event. (Cinematic, High Definition, Edited for Content, White Balanced, and Sound Leveled) – To be kind we received a very amateurish video at best.
GMS advertises their business as having “Award Winning Photographers”. Here are some of the definitions I found: champion, choice, elite, first-class, first-rate, outstanding, and topnotch. Here’s the antonym: worst. We received the latter.
We reached out several times to give GMS an opportunity to make the video right. When we made a list of some of the things we wanted corrected, instead of taking responsibility for an inferior video and working with us, the owner decided to insult our venue by saying and I quote: “The venue was what is was”. To further add insult to our once in a life time event he decided to add the following; and I quote: “You can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear”. INCREDIBILE!!
As far as the production and direction of the video is concerned, the sound changed throughout the video. The white balanced they claim they provide was not done, the stone wall changed color several times as the video “shook” left to right.
Furthermore, the credits at the end and beginning had numerous punctuation and spelling mistakes; completely horrible, the worst wedding video I’ve ever seen.
There were so many things that went wrong with this video, but here’s the cream of the crop: They missed the beginning of the wedding when the bride walked down the aisle; instead they videoed the ukulele player. As far as the ending of the video, they decided to go with me(the bride) dancing with my nephew to a song they chose, instead of our requested wedding song, to the following caption: “And They Lived Happily Ever After….”

  • I would not judge any company for one bad review. GMS Photo and Video won "Best of Baltimore 2013 for wedding photography and video and Couples Choice award 2014 from Wedding Wire.Over 80 reviews left on Wedding Wire and Thumbtack and only this one is under 4.9. Most reviews are 5.0 and higher. GMS also has a spotlight in the Bank of America small business blog for excellence. There are always two sides to every story and I don't need to explain my side. I can tell you that this has been resolved and please visit us at www.gmsphotos.com.
