I was quite shocked when I receieved a FINAL DEMAND letter dated March 23, 2013 for a business that I owned and closed in January of 2001. The letter states that it was for "Equipment Lease Agreement". I had a modem from the telephone company that was mailed back and a credit card reader that was picked up at my store by the vendor the week that I closed.
The letter started by telling me that I had failed to respond to thier previous Demand For Payment along with a threat to commence collection proceedings against me to recover the amount they claim I owe. This was the one and only correspondence I have ever received regarding such a debt. Strange after the elasped time from closing of my business.
My first reaction to this was this must be a scam......first, the letter came twelve (12) years after the business closed, the name just struck me as odd, Pushpin Holdings and lastly, the closing sentence of the letter sounded strange, even from a legit collection agency, it reads "Please Govern Yourselves Accordingly".
Can anyone verify the legitimacy of this company or was I right in my first impression that is was someone trying to scam money long after the fact??
