I received a phone call from a person who identified himself as Andre Ritchie and claimed that he worked for a tech support company (Tech2Tech) under contract to Microsoft. He said that my IP address had been compromised, likely by a hacker, and that spyware &/or other malicious software had likely been installed. I said that I would contact Microsoft tech support directly to which he responded that MS does not provide that service (I.e., all tech support is sub'd out). I said that I would contact my Internet service provider for a confirmation and he replied that they would not have access to Microsoft security reports. Tech2tech rep also said that Norton & other security monitoring products were not effective, particularly at detecting spyware. Both MS & my internet provider confirmed that Tech2tech is a scam company. Phone number provided by the "tech2tech" rep was800.262.9375. My Internet provider recommended that I also contact the police.

  • My facebook account had been hacked 7 weeks ago. Using facebook for business, I was panicked, since all my contacts/promotion is being done through it. So one night, in a panic google help for hacked Facebook account and "Tech2tech" appeared.

I call them, an Idian guy claiming to be "David Peterson" with his indian accent made me believe the hackers were into my computer and that I would loose all my work if I didn't forward them $211US. In a panic, i gave them the infos and they proceeded the payment.

The thing is that they were not able to recover my facebook account and asked for a refund since they "guaranteed to recover the account" if not I could have a refund.

Calling the 1800-262-9375 number two days later, the number was no longer in service. There I was, scammed.

Then I contacted the anti-scam protection of the consumer in Canada, where they contacted the rubbish con artist with the fake name who then called me from a 310 number, which is a Beverly Hills, California number!!! He was very nervous, speaking fast i said i couldn't hear anything he was saying with his thick accent but he asked me where he could send me a check for a refund.

I am waiting to see how this goes, he is supposed to call me bad, if he doesn't I'm calling the protection of the consumer again tomorrow. What a scammer i hope he gets caught one day by all of us.
