Similar story to everyone else who got taken. I was asked to review my pc for errors and yes, there was horrendous volume of supposed problems. I was not immediately convinced of the authenticity of this call but after being transferred to the "supervisor" I was convinced they were acting on behalf of Microsoft so signed up for the "lifetime" plan 15750.44 INR @ .0220 for $340.55 CDN. A few weeks later I received a service call as their system apparently detected some problems. I watched while they began to scan my pc and to my horror the person with the remote access to my pc was trying to build a PayPal account using a full name, address, credit card number complete with the 3 digit security code. Apparently this person already had a paypal account with password so the request was denied. Today, I was checking my visa statement online only to find a similar amount 329.99 USD @ 1.0321 for $340.60 CDN to another company that I have never heard of. Rather coincidental! My Visa has now been cancelled and a new card en route.

Update: 10/03/2011

Triplicate postings are as a result of my attempting to upload supporting documentation. Unfortunately I continued to receive an error message.

Update: 10/03/2011

After several attempts I have been unsuccessful in uploading proof of damages in jpeg format. Continue to receive error message.

  • I received a phone call yesterday stating that Microsoft was so terribly sorry that I had been scammed and were fully prepared to refund my money. I was asked to launch a website to obtain and complete the proper form. I obtained the address, then hung up. www.ammyy.com has a warning notice on their home page indicating malicious use of software on their site. BEWARE!!

  • I have received numerous calls from these scam artists in recent months requesting permission to access and repair my pc. I have told them repeatedly not to call here again but they persist. The best call came today.....the caller claimed that the company is going out of business and they wanted to reimburse me some of what I was originally charged. Money was to be transferred via the post office. The caller requested access to my computer so she could determine where the nearest post office was to my residence. I think not!!
