Carparts.com is a true scam and have the worst supply chain and ecommerce systems I have ever seen. It appears that everything in their online catalog is "in stock" but in reality perhaps nothing is and is instead dtop shipped from the actual distributors.

My experice has cost me over $5,000 with these guys. It started when I was searching for an alternator for my BMW and I had a choice between partsgeek.com and carparts.com. Well, parts geeks.com is a very reputable firm but the prices were slightly higher and the delivery was only UPS ground. I needed it within 2 days and carports.com had 2 day delivery and not only did the site say it was in stock, but also so did the sales department, when I called to confirm two day delivery.

So I ordered a gasket and alternator. the gasket came on-time but not only did the alternator not show up but there was no date for delivery! Just said delivery date was unknown which was around ten days later than promised.

I called and found out that the delivery date is April 30th. Needless to say I was angry especially when I went online to see that the part was showing as in Stock with overnight and 2 day delivery available. I called customer service and I get is a Philippines Call Center and when I ask for the US office, the answer is that they are the only ones who will speak with a customer. Its not possible to reach any management, much less figure out who and where they are.

So today, Apri 30, the part is not here yet and I called and the answer is no idea when it will be available. I ried to get ahold of someone beyond an agent and they would not even connect me with a supervisor.

So far, the bottom line is that I lost one week of work waiting for a part that was promised and I paid for 2 day delivery. So far, it appears that there is NO IDEA when it will be shipping from wherever.

Its a scam and most likely a very small storefornt with a few web masters. DO NOT EVER BUY FROM THESE LIARS. Use PartsGeeks.com

  • Yes their customer service sucks....I ordered something online on 6-7-13 (which stated it was in stock) and I tried to call them today (6-14-13) at their 1-877-702-1308 number to check status on my order and the phone just rang and no one ever answered the phone. I finally got someone on their online chat and they told me it SHOULD ship out within 48hrs....WTF.
