I found this lawn service in our local Ocala Star Banner newspaper. Kathy, the owner came 9:30 AM on 4/16/2013 to give me an estimate for root removal of 2 pompas grass, branch, debris and trunk removal under some live oaks in our paddock. She quoted me 350.00, but agreed to do it for 325.00. Her workers arrived 2 and 1/2 hours late. The tire on the enourmous trailer was flat, they were left no water to drink during work. I have no complaints about her workers. They did the best they could with inadequate tools and a trailer that was much too large. The smaller trailer was not available. Eventually it took out part of the fence and gate, as they tried to maneuver it in and out of the horse paddock. One very large trunk could not be cut and removed, as it had some kind of chicken wire embedded into the bark. We finally settled to just dragging it to the back of my property anlong with the debris. At 6:00 PM Kathy left with a worker in the truck, leaving behind another worker and the trailer. She was to return with the necessary fence materials to fix the fence. At 8;00 PM we were all still waiting. NO Call, Nothing. I finally called, and she said they would be out in the morning to fix the fence. Worker came by and picked up co-worker and the trailer. I found out that she just wanted to be driven home, never bought wood for fence. Also, both workers stated that the would be quitting the next day after they got paid.
They came at 11;00 AM the next morning,although they were scheduled to come at 8:00, to repair the fence, but only came with the one post.
I requested an adjustment in the price.We needed additional fence boards for repairs. Since, the large trunk was not removed, nor was the debris, it was just hauled to the back of my property, she did not have additional landfill fees for this and cetainly did not use much gas for the truck to drag a trunk.
When I mentioned this, she became irrate, stating that she lost 150.00 because of landfill fees. Well, it certainly is not my problem if she miscalculated when giving me an estimate. I paid 300.00 and wish to receive reimbursement for 2 fence boards and work not completed as stated in original estimate, $100.00.
