Using my annual FREE credit report to confirm no negative information because I'm relocating and need to rent. On the Experian site they offer your credit score for $1 with your free report. I go for it, because it's just a buck. But it turns out there was a ton of fine print telling me I was actually signing up for a credit monitoring service for $17.95 per month. Eighteen bucks a months, for what?

There was never a clue. Experian has great con game going on here. But the fine print isn't in plain sight, you have to searh for it. But why would you? It is NOT openly disclosed. I received no notice of my membership in an email, informing me of my right to cancel within seven days. I didn't know I signed up for anything but my credit score for a buck. Why would I cancel a membership I never knew I started? I wouldn't. That was a rhetorical question.

So when I see a $17.95 charge from Experian a week later I make the call and get the same run around from these scammers and theives that so many others have reported. They cancel my memebership, but keep my $17.95.

Experian has been running all manner of scams for years. The FTC has fined them and new regulations have been enacted to make their unethical behavior a violation of law. But they immediately turn around an find a new scheme to defraud the public. The FTC and the Federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau need to act aggressively against these white collar criminals and hold Experian's CEO, CFO and COO accountable for these unethical practices. Where is the Credit Card Industry? Why aren't they policing thier industry? Mostly because birds of a feather flock together. Big fines, returning strong regulation of the industry by the federal government and some jail time might hae an impact.
