I hired Steve Stokes owner of Roof Masters to repair my roof and replace rotted wood. He submitted a contract bid for $1,800.00 +$700.00, I put $595.00 down on 4/5 and he started the work. In the process he caused more damages to my home, but quoted and additional $700.00 to replace some other rotted wood on our shed. He said he would definitely come back on Monday 4/8 to fix the damages he caused and start the new job. So I paid him the balance of $2005.00 on 4/6. He did not show up 4/8 and has not returned our phone calls. I have attempted to file claim on his insurance & bond and have found it to be invalid. It is fraudulent. The number on the insurance says its "unreachable". I called the number yesterday and someone said they would have an agent call me back to to get a statement for the damages, but no one has called. I have found that he is out of Quincy FL.

  • Hi we are trying to track this guy down. apparently he used a florida id to cash our cashier's check: FLID C643-001-40-591-0 exp 2014. We also tried to file a report, but since there is a contract the police officer told us it was a civil matter and that we needed to go to small claims court. We are pretty sure that he is using a false name. We're trying to discover his real name and address in order to serve the court papers. my email is (Personal Information Removed) please contact me so we can coordinate our efforts.

  • Hector & Jacqueline I would be eager to combine efforts to try to keep others from being scammed, and get some of my money refunded. I have also reported him to the state of Alabama

  • Hi Kimela, for starters we were scammed outside of Houston, TX. I'd be curious to see where he took advantage of Jacqueline. I'm sure that "Steve" doesn't spend too much time in one place. We contacted him after he sent out a fax advertisement. Since I'm sure he used a fake ID and he's struck in multiple states I am making an effort to report him to the FBI. Any info you might have would help.

  • Hi Hector - We were scammed in Mobile Alabama, but he did cash my cashiers checks using the name Steve Stokes with a Florida ID as well. I had asked for a copy of his business license, insurance and bond. The bond was not secured because he did not complete the paperwork for his license, and the insurance was fraudulent, I think he spliced it together himself. Someone did answer at the number on the insurance policy but they never called me back to file a claim; and when I called back the number was "unreachable". It is a Louisana number. I reported it to the local authorities and was referred to small claims court as well, there is an address but no one is ever at the location. He did have a white truck, and he wore a hat that had "RoofMasters on it". He even agreed to refund me part of my money, but did not call me when he said he would, nor have I been able to contact him since - he does not reply to any of my emails.

  • Is it possible that he goes by Mike Stokes and resides in Broken Arrow, OK? I am a contractor who did a small repair job for a Mike Stokes. He gave me a bad cc number.
