When I purchased my vehicle I was told that I could buy a five year 120K mile extended warranty that had a full refund option if not used. One agreement which I paid one fee for. At no time did the sales person inform me that the refund was not actually a refund, but funds coming from a third party, Signet Financial Group who was purchasing an insurance policy which paid out if buyers did not use their service contract. Signet is listed as
the "Western Regional Processing Unit" on the agreement. To me this indicated that they would do the paperwork for the warranty company, who had received my money and would return it. the Warranty Company is listed as "Confidence Plus". This is deceptive at best, but I believe it is fraudulent because Confidence Plus has nothing to do with the refund aspect of the contract. The document also says that performance under the agreement was the sole responsibly of Signet. As a processor, this means that they are solely responsible for the "processing" of the refund. The dealer has the contract listed on "their" bill of sale and there is no separate fee for the refund agreement. Signet has gone out of business before my contract reached maturity. The dealer sold me this policy under false pretense and although it is worded somewhat cleverly I believe they bear full responsibility for the events that followed. In truth it is not a "refund agreement at all; but a speculative agreement and a ponzi scheme. They have offered me a partial payment of $600.00 which makes absolutely no sense to me. Dominick Roncone (the General Manager) advised me that they could not afford the full amount due. Keep in mind that Honda and the dealership also made over $400.00 on the financing of this agreement. It also seems to me that the dealership is in violation of
Article 78.14 (Guarantees or warranties) of the Motor Vehicle Dealers and Transporters Regulations. Baron Honda is in breach of the agreement they made. This method of promoting the sale of the extended warranty is a scam and has to be illegal.
