As with the other person Rachel, I was cold called in exactly the same fashion by a man named Richard Walter claiming to be from Microsoft and saying that hackers had taken over my computer. I fell for it hook line and sinker but when I refused to pay, he locked up my computer and told me I would never be able to get it back. I should have guessed when he said his name with such a strong Indian accent. When I phoned back and asked his name he hung up on me. A big scam and I will be contacting Microsoft and the Internet fraud department of the OPP

- I took my hard drive down to a local place and he was able to unlock my computer in 5 minutes with a program. I also contacted microsoft and internet fraud but without monetary issues they might not do anything about it. I would suggest also doing a police report as these people also called and harassed me for 5 days after. Good luck!
