The amount I quoted is the difference between what I got and what they claim I got. I'll explain. My problem is that although we received the check in Feb 2012 (and cashed it about 2 months later after we were 100% sure it was meant for us), and the w-2 this year, (after we realize it was also for the settlement distribution from 2009), the w2 does not match the amount of the check distribution, and we have no idea how to check with this company and figure out if it is correct, if we are expecting another form (because some say an interest 1099 form is sometimes also sent), or if we need to request a corrected w2. This is holding up filing our taxes. I even checked with a tax preparer, albeit through a third party, and they really only said that maybe the discrepancy was based on wages + fed, ss, medicare, state taxes, but given its such a low amount, no federal was withheld, and adding ss, medicare, and state, it does not add up to the difference and in fact, the earnings summar says 'Gross Pay' for this lower amount. They give no contact information in with the W2 besides their address but its not even a guarantee someone will receive something there and who knows how long it will take. Has anyone been able to get in contact with these people? I even asked an IRS rep when I called their 800 number for another issue (not worth it to call them for anything either - 25 minutes on hold to be read information available on the website), and I was told for any W2 help I had to talk to the employer... well that is easier said than done because the 'employer' would be the person distributing the w2, brown qualified, not Walmart... I wish we never cashed the check, its not worth the headache. I advise anyone that got it and has yet to cash it, just send it back and tell them to keep their money.

  • I think this may go under 'change of business practice' but it is more of pratices. I would like contact information for the company and help determining why this discrepency exists (and preferably the information made readily available and easily accessible to other members of the class action lawsuit. I have two family members that received the checks and thus were extremely confused and had to do a lot of research before filing their taxes because of these poorly labeled W2s. They need to add a letter stating that 'this W2 is for checks issued with regards to the class action lawsuit for Walmart workers' and then it needs to say 'for $x.xx amount paid on xx/xx/xx date' so that the individual can check their bank for the check or respond to the phone number, email, etc. listed and say 'hey I didn't get this amount, so I will not be filing this W2' and they can go from there (as in my search for any information on why our W2 is wrong, I found many that never received a check in the first place).
