I acquired their services in January of 2011. I have now sold this home and closed on the sale this February 8, 2013. Last week I received a letter fom Am. Family that they were cancelling my service because they have standards and I don't meet those any more. Their reason was that no one was living in the house and that I had on 2 occasions reported a claim or tried to. They were never out any losses but yet, they no longer would cover me. To me this is a raping of the consumer. The circumstances surrounding their claim is ridiculous. When I questioned them they talked out of both sides of their mouth. I had an inspector their for the sale of my home. He said I had hail damage on my roof. The insurance adjustor said no I didn't and that an inspector has no real qualifications to make that assessment. If he doesn't then how can they charge a fee to do that very thing. The adjustor also said we had not had any hail. When I began recalling the dates that the inspector had mentioned storms that had caused others to have damage in my neighborhood, The adjustor then said, yes, we did replace the roofs of others. Yet mine didn't have damage. My roof is a 20 year roof and the house is 12-13 yrs old. Adjustors also says that is normal for this type roof to be worn out and not results of any hail. To me this is just an excuse to not be held accountable for a service that I have been required by law to have and I have diligently paid for. I had no choice but to have my roof replaced in order to secure the sale of the home. I can supply you with the letter from the insurance company with their reasoning. I recently married and put my house on the market. My brother moved into this home so that it wouldn't be empty and he could maintain it while it was listed on the market. So the insurance company also said it was brought to their attention that the house was vacant, therefore causing greater risks for them. This was the second time I tried to aquire their services for a problem and they didn't incur any monetary loss for either, but they feel they can no longer maintain their standards by insuring me. I'm sorry but this is ridiculous. I will submit any information needed to receive any satisfaction. Thank you for allowing me to share.
