Hi,
the reason I write you is that I have been in really bad situation in the building we use to live. When we moved in ,that was in may 2011 ,the apartment they gave us was smelling awful- like cat's pee and it was really cat's pee. It was the whole floor in the closet. They have told us that everything is clean and that the carpet is clean, but it was not. And after that they told us that we have to live like there until they have another available apartment and they didn't do anything to remove the smell by the meaning time. We lived with this smell one month and we was having breathing problems when we turned on the heating. When we finally moved in to another apartment they didn't payed us for the expenses, for the inconvenience neither, they just deducted $100 from the monthly rent for the delaying. The manager was very kind and she was ensuring us that our staying will be more then pleased and etc.
When the 13 months contract was about to end we got a letter that they will raise our rent with a lot of money ,we was paying $1550 and the new rent was over $1700, so we decided to move and we let the manager know. She told us that we was suppose to do it 10 days earlier if we wanted to move till the end of the month(we let her know 20 days earlier instead 30 days) and she said that there is no problem, we can do it,even she said thank you for letting me know 20 days earlier, cause usually the people is letting me know 10 days or a week earlier.
After we moved out on the 30-th of June 2012, we have cleaned everything and there was nothing to charge us. So eventually we got a notification that we have to pay $436 for that we have notified them for our moving 10 days later then it was suppose to.
I am taking this like a cheat , because they didn't told us that when we actually was still living there,but after that. If we knew that we was going to be charged,we was not going to hurry with the moving out. They finally got the apartment empty on the earlier date, but want to charge us after we are gone and the apartment was ready for someone to move in ,it was completely clean!
Can you help us with taking a compensation for the inconvenience and that cheat?
