On July 11, 2011 our home sustained a lot of damage during a storm that hit here in Iowa. Our insurance company was great, getting our check to us within three weeks. Since then Wells Fargo has held onto the insurance check, making us jump through hoops with red tape. In the mean time, our house has been sitting, not fixed as they will not release the funds so we can pay the contractor. They admitted they dropped the ball in getting the money back to us, but they will not release it with out following procedures. Our home is now starting to developed mold as there is a hole in the roof. Yes, we have it covered, but no ventulation and two months of humid and hot weather, well you get the picture. The house could have been fixed by now, but now we have to wait until Oct. (which will cause more problems). Wells Fargo actually told us that the contractor can start work while waiting for the money! Really? How is he suppose to get the materials with no money and actually work for free? We ask these questions daily, but do not get an answer. When we told them that this waiting is causing more damage they actually told us the insurance company will pay. The insurance company shouldn't have to as this is not their fault. This is Wells Fargo's fault. My name and my husband's name is on the insurance check, as well as Wells Fargo. They are actually stealing from us. If I could file theft charges I would. Like I stated earlier, they admitted to dropping the ball on this, but they will not do anything to get our insurance money to us any sooner. We wait and watch our home go down in value. Thank you for letting me tell my story.
