I was also was looking on Craigslist for vacation rentals in Hawaii. Contacted a bunch and one of the people that got back to me was scott gonzales. He said it was available and would need a payment before he can guarantee a hold and also sent rental agreement. I sent a transfer online, and told him that I would fax agreement next day. I faxed the agreement the following evening and emailed him but did not hear back. It was about 10pm, so I figured Hawaii would only be 7 or 8pm, and decided to call the number on the email. The person who picked up sounded like he was woken by the phone and did not identify himself. I asked if he was Scott Gonzales he said yes. I asked if he recieved the transfer and he rambled on about lots of poeple being interested in. I explained i was just calling to following up about the rental, and he said once he recieves payment he will let me know. After hanging up the phone, I had a bad feeling so I decided to research him so more. I looked up the link on the email, and wondered why he had a yahoo account if he worked at freelancerealtor.com
I then googled him and what came up was a posting from craigslist saying his posting was a scam!!!! The rental agreement was seemed lacking which is why I was calling him in the first place. The Renter to the place was under a Cheryl Jones in Colorado Springs, whom he wanted money sent to. He had a bank account and everything.
