I had been paying on a bad debt collection all year, the initial credit card balance was $726.71 then after the card did 'Charge off' many many years ago, it now has a ‘principal’ balance of $ $1,164.67. plus a lot of other charges and still creating a 4.250% interest on principal.
I had been served court papers from this and agreed to pay in good faith to Kaplan law firm over a year ago, I had been making monthly payments mostly all year from my unemployment earnings, I had missed my last payment of $103.00 last December because I finally found a job and was off unemployment. I had previously been told by this Lee Ann that my ‘Total’ balance due is $206.00 for payoff.
After again speaking with ‘Lee-Ann today 01/08/2013 I was told the account had been closed and the new balance due is $727.64.
After being subjected to massive duress on this day conversation I indicated I just wanted to pay $203.00 that was due and stop this collection. Lou-Ann would not agree to this and was objective and hostile and attempting to draw me into indicate derogatory things on the phone. I was subjected to a hostile conversation and all I wanted to do is pay, I was subjected from a hostile conversation to agree to pay $103.00 monthly until the new balance of $727.71 was paid, I was not verbally abused however I was subjected to ‘NO-CHOICE’ other then to except what she now demanded and agree.
I had been attempting to pay this debt and had paid almost $1000 even though it created an EXTREME hardship in my life, I now need your help, I feel abused stolen from and treated less then a Human Being by this Lee-Ann.This law firm and Lee Ann are complete consumer predators, I cannot afford legal assistance and now work for $8 an hour as a security guard, I live in poverty level , I have tried to pay these people however they are VERY deceptive, Please Please Help me PLEASE!
