2 kids came to my door saying they needed money to go to trip in Europe. They said they were my neighbors grandkids. I don't know all my neighbors so I fell for their scam. They were selling childrens books for $42.00. They used pressure tactics and kept saying-- how can you not help your neighbors grandkids? They said that all the neighbors had helped out. I told them I'd give them $10. They said that wouldn't help them at all. They needed "points" for these children's books they were selling taht would help a children's hospital. They said that if I gave $20 that they can find another neighbor to give $20 and that would help them w/ their points. I fell for this scam. I went to the nieghbors houses they pointed towards and no one knew who these kids were. one nieghbor said that last year kids came to their house doing this again but changed their story a little. It was selling magazines to go on a trip to Europe. She knew it was a scam b/c it was all over the internet. I notice for singles, they sell magazines.If you are a mom, like me, they go for the children's books con. What a joke. I lost $20 in cash to these con artist. They are so good for kids.. using your "help yoru nieghbor" pity story. Feel bad for the real neighbors who do legit things... my neighbor said that if these kids come to your door, ask them what organization you are from. Get the phone # & tell them you will "look into it and research it on the interent" and to come back later. That way, they will never come back ...
