I received a letter supposedly from equifax stating that they recently received a request (don't know from who, but It wasn't me) that my one free annual credit report be mailed to me. That as a "precautionary" measure, to assure that my credit file is disclosed "only to me" they need to confirm my identity. Then they ask me for my full name, SSN, complete addresses in the past two years!, copy of my ID and copy of one of my utility bills.
This is clearly an attempt to steal my identity and who knows if more people are receiving this letter. I just hope no one falls into this scam and report it to the proper authorities.
