This company is running a scam of hiring individuals through the internet and promising a monthly fixed salary to inspect and re-ship items overseas. Most orders are electronic merchandise to be forwarded to Russia. They acquire customers through an internet site, receive-me.com. (Check out this site) Packing Plus provides you access to a data-base where you can monitor all the packages that have been assigned to you. You have access to download the prepaid shipping labels witch contains packaging information and the address of the recipient. You are asked to open packages, check the merchandise for possible damage, and turn on electronic items to insure functionality, take a picture of the item, download the picture to their DB and re-package it. Item are then wrapped in black plastic sheeting and taken to the post office.
I shipped a total of 24 items and I have pictures and tracking numbers for all of them. I was told that I could discard of all receipts because they had copies of them but I kept them all. The first package I shipped out valued at $25.00 was returned to me because the recipient had moved from the shipping address. (Perhaps a test item) Packing Plus will send you limited supplies only to give you a false sense of legitimacy. The employee is told that there will be a training period of 30 days and at the end of the trial period, you will be paid the promised wages and from that point on you can elect to be paid every two weeks.
After the initial 30 days, I called my manager and asked her when I could expect to receive my wages. She said that she had contacted the payroll department and that my first pay check was due on December 7th. After December 6, 2012, exactly on month after my starting date, I noticed that there were no packages listed on my DB for processing. At that point I realized that they were running a scam. As I continued to check the DB for packages, there were none. I contacted the post office, hoping that I could stop deliveries that were outstanding only to learn that you can not intercept International mailings.
I do have a signed copy of a contract that specifies all terms of employment. I was very skeptical about this opportunity and did some research before I agreed to "be scammed". I logged on into BBB and checked out what it had to say about "Packing Plus". The right address came up, it said that this company had been in business since 1975 and since then, there were no complaints. However, this company was not listed as a member of BBB. I copied and pasted this finding into a word document and forwarded it to their HR department stating that I had concluded my research and that I was willing to join their work force. "Bad Move". A couple days ago, I logged into BBB again with thoughts to file a complaint and expose the true facts of re-shipping internet jobs, except that this time, Packing Plus is no where to be found.
I truly doubt that these scammers are based in the US. They are most likely using small business addresses to back up their claims and find vulnerable individuals to take a bite on their unscrupulous behavior. I can’t help but think of all the Xmas gifts they have stolen from under the Xmas trees from those whom were counting on their wages to place “something” under a green tree in hopes to photograph a smile on their children face’s. Despicable! With that said, I will be looking and subscribing to possible internet scams and will become a fighter on this issue. During my crusade, I will learn to uncover and expose what I learn hoping to prevent others to fall into scamming predicaments.
If you are a citizen of San Dimas, California; I urge you to go to the address I have provided and question them about their business practices. Please do it in a civil and diplomatic manner. I have names and phone numbers of individuals I have dealt with. If you are a law agency and have been working or investigating Packing Plus, you can contact me at (Personal Information Removed).
