  • Janet, My elderly mother in the UK was tricked by the same "offer". Unfortunately, the scoundrels selling this rubbish are clearly well-versed in the art of misleading sales tactics. When you click on the sample offer, you also agree to their Terms & Conditions (T&C). These state that it's actually a trial offer, for a monthly subscription to their product.

I've read through the T & C very carefully. It says that the product can be sent back for a refund "within 14 days". So if you've only just received the 2nd parcel, you should be entitled to a refund on that. However, this company is obviously NOT to be trusted, so my fear is that sending the product back will achieve nothing. You should definitely not return anything without ensuring you get proof of delivery. (Others here have said that they used Recorded Delivery, but to no avail.)
I have further thoughts on the "refund" offer, but have no more space and the company states that it can change its T&C at any time, so I'm hesitant to post more here.

I'm planning to submit my own detailed report to Scambook. But so far, this is what we've done: (1) My mother contacted her credit card company, cancelled her card and requested a new one, to stop any more money being taken out. (So far they've taken out over £250 (=US $400).

    (2) It is possible to cancel the subscription on the web site, so we did that. (Scroll down the main page and there's a "Cancel" link (in tiny letters. of course.) They seemed to be using a well-known subscription-cancelling service, and we got a ref. number, so I'm hoping the subscription really will have been cancelled.

We hope that this will at least stop my poor mother losing any more money. We are working on one of the charges, which we believe to be completely fraudulent. But I've a feeling that the rest is money lost.:-( I feel so sorry for her; for you, Janet and for all the other people who've been duped by these charlatans, who are so talented at operating on the edge of the law.

  • I have had exactly the same problem and am currently out of pocket by £89.91. My bank helped initially by rejecting their claim but this thriving company produced a pile of documentation including T&C's plus other fictional rubbish NONE of which I had ever seen! When the charge first appeared I called and cancelled their 'subscription' and told them that any goods they sent me would be unsolicited. I live on a tight budget and this has caused me great stress and financial hardship. I NEVER ticked a T&C box as it was never presented. This company should be closed down and I will continue discussions with my bank in the hope that they can get me a refund. Good luck with all your claims.

  • Ellen, I'm so sorry that you were also scammed and despite the many complaints about it, this disreputable company is apparently STILL managing to rake in so much money with their deceptive "free" sample offer.

One of the problems is that they do not ASK people specifically to check or tick a Terms and Conditions box. But lower down the page where they ask for your credit card details (at first sight, merely for the small shipping charge) there is a lengthy note that explains the terms of the scam.

Yes, hindsight is 20/20, but I think that those on this site who scold people for not reading all the T&C fail to see how easy it is to do. Hand on heart, how many of us actually read all the pages of T & C every time we download or update every program(me) on our computers? Very few, I think.) So I can quite see how VERY easy it is for anyone (and especially those who are less well-versed in the tactics used by internet scammers) to overlook odd notes on a page that is specifically DESIGNED to make them forget to read the small (fine) print. When you're weighing up about whether it's worth the $4.99 shipping charge for the "free" sample, worrying about finding your credit card and typing in the details correctly and so on, I think it's all too easy to forget to read that wordy note in small print at the bottom of the page, or not even to notice that it's there. And that, of course, is exactly what these scamming scoundrels intend you to do.

Thank heaven for those who set up maintain sites such as this one: our tireless Davids fighting against the ghastly Goliaths of the scamming world!

  • By the way, this is what the small (fine) print says on the site my mother used. They don't specifically ask you to confirm your acceptance of the T&C. Merely by clicking on the "Send Now" icon, people are agreeing to the extortionate monthly subscription, and more:
    >>
By clicking "Order Now" we're giving you a trial bottle for only £4.99 today (non refundable), and then you have 14 days from the date you place your order with us to evaluate the product. If you are unhappy with the product at any time during those 14 days, you must call or email us to avoid being billed and cancel receiving future shipments. If you are satisfied with our product, do nothing and we will bill you £89.91 for the trial bottle you received. We will also send you a full month supply for £89.91 plus £4.99 shipping and handling, every thirty (30) days thereafter. Cancel anytime by phone by calling 20 3468 4270 <<
But, of course, the person who allegedly deals with the cancellations will undoubtedly never actually be in the office when you call. :-(
