Complaint 185811 Details

Received in mail an envelop with the Home Depot insignia in the left upper corner, addressed to me with a Canada postmark that was note dated but stamped with the number 7271510. Enclosed was a letter from the company stating that I had won $150,000 from the "MEGA LOTTERY" conducted in IK on 9/5/12. A ticket serial number and winning number were given. Enclosed also was a $3980 check from A&J Produce Corp and signed by Natalie Niekro. The bank for the check is Signature Bank at 421 Hunts Point Avenue in the Bronx, dated 11/20/12. The letter instructs that I am to call a "Mr. George Evans" at 416 832-3142 before cashing the check. The letter also states that I have to pay $1995 "directly to the tax agent". The letter is signed by Lynne Weakly, the Promotion Manager.

Unfortunately, a lot of legitimate businesses and people are being tainted by this crap! A&J Produce really exists and is a produce store in the Bronx. I have left a message with them by email to let them know that their name is being slimed. I have also notified the Office of the Inspector General via their hotline to let them know as well. There are two women named Natalie Niekro, one owns a foundation in Arizona and the other is a regular lady with kids somewhere in the US (looked up on Facebook).

I suggest that everyone who complains here also sends in a complaint to the Office of the Inspector General. Unsuspecting and vulnerable folks will get screwed by these people!
