I received an unsolicited job offer via email from "Larry Forrester" on behalf of Socofer Trading Limited as a result of my posted resume on CareerBuilder.com on August 29, 2011 and again on September 6, 2011. Each time I forwarded the fraudulent job offer to CareerBuilder's TSST team and received the following email:

"Thank you for contacting CareerBuilder's Trust and Site Security Team. We appreciate you bringing this information to our attention.

Upon review of your report, we have determined that the details provided are associated with a Payment Processing or Re-shipping Scam. The message should be disregarded. Any communication with individuals connected to the original message should cease and future correspondence attempts ignored."

  • On my behalf, it is necessary to say that I work for this company for almost 4 months and everything is quite fine. Certainly, this job is not easy, as I expected it to be, however, my salary is stable and the support team is excellent. This is the best and the most tolerant and gentle company support service I have ever had!
Well, unfortunately, I want to say that the company which calls itself "Socofer Trading Limited" company which conducts illegal operations using the name our company and I will tell our administration about this problem and I am sure that they will do their best to solve it and the scam will be revealed. I am sure that this was a terrible mistake...

  • I don't know what you're talking about, actually. About a month ago I received the same e-mail. I've been hired 3 weeks ago and I've already received my payment for the first 2 weeks! Everything's fine though I was suspicious in the very beginning, because of the fact that the company is an overseas one and the head office is situated in Cyprus. Now I can say that the job is fine for me as well as a possibility to work from home. I'm studying now and the home-based job is perfect in my case.

  • As Justin said, they are indeed a scam, as I unfortunately fell for it. The people who said they have had no issues are likely people working for the scam to make it more legitimate.

  • Shannon,
how far did you get until you realized it was a scam? I am about to begin the training period, but feel as if there is something not right about the entire thing.. It just seems way to good to be true...

  • To the point where they transferred the money into my account, I made the withdraws as requested, and then the bank that issued the deposit sent a message to my bank saying it was 'in error', so they had to transfer it back. So, pretty far.

If you've sent them the direct-deposit form they have you fill out, at the very least, talk to your bank and have them keep an eye on it; at most, get a new account created. DO NOT GO THROUGH WITH THE TRAINING.

  • I recieved the same e-mail offering me a "at home job"...same scenario. My background in different jobs has given me the necessary knowledge as to ALWAYS QUESTION WHAT SEEMS TO BE " TO GOOD TO BE TRUE"..I decided to try them out...After a FULL week of me waitng for some kind of INSTRUCTIONS....Some lady called me T home and left a message with my 12 year old daughter!! The message wad "tell ------ to call her local bank because there was a WIRE TRANSFFER in the amount of $5,993. that was made on her account.. I've had a job all along so I was @ work wen they called me at home. So I did check my account online and there was infact SUCH WIRE TRANSFER PENDING.. I immidiatelly got in touch withy husband who is in the Military and he told me to freeze the sccount and call our lawyers. I love it when people try to SCAM US, cuz like I said before "I KNEW SOMTHING WAS NOT RIGHT"
So I got a hold of the FRAUD DEPARTMENT with my bank..we decide it to let it post..... gave them all the info I have on this company...and once the transaction posted... WE REVERSED THE TRANSACTION!!!! HA!!! And still NOT done with them!!!

  • Ok people...here's the deal:

I received the same email offer through careerbuilder.com and went through the 2 week training period. Which solely involved logging on to their back office system, socbackoffice.com, once every hour from 9-1:30pm.
I was supposed to receive my first wire transfer/ paycheck on the friday ending the 2 weeks, there was a "delay" and the transfer, in the amount of $23755.00, hit my account on the following Monday late afternoon.
I was contacted by the bank to review the recent activity on my account. My bank was in contact with the bank which the transfer came from, and were advised that the moneys were Stolen/ Fraudulent.
SO basically now, my bank has returned the transferred money to where it originated from.. My accounts have been closed, and I can no longer do business with that bank.
They also advised me, that if I had gone through with withdrawing the money and wiring it using Western Union (which is what Socofer asks you to do) I would have been in debt to the bank responsible for the entire $23755.00.....And be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

After dealing with the bank< I returned to the socbackoffice.com website and wrote "my personal manager" what had happened. I was then immediately locked out of their system.

In conclusion.... Socofer Trading Limited is a money laundering scam, and if you are contacted by them.....Do Not Respond

    Save yourselves the trouble!
