They have an upfront $1.99 Access Fee, of which I agreed to pay. However the next day I was charged $149.70. I did not authorized this charge and I don't even know what it's for. Of course no response from them yet. Church Date is obviously setup to scam people.

  • Gee the Terms of Service clearly state they will bill you and by using the site you agree to automated billing without any further authorization from you.

  • I clearly didn't see it then. It's funny how the $1.99 fee is obvious. Also, most companies send you a receipt or something letting you know that a trial is up and a charge will occur. Who would pay $150.00 for a three month subscription to a dating site?

  • It didn't even have a search feature I was getting matches in Utah (not my state). It's obviously misleading, why do think there are all of these other complaints? A good company would realize that in this case I didn't want their service for what was billed and they should give a refund. I cancelled service within a week. JasonJ, who are you by the way? What would bring you to this site, to this complaint, that I just posted?

  • It is in a dating sites best interest to NOT match 99% of its client. They just want you to keep renewing your monthly membership. What I provide is a different view of your complaint. Many people complain they weren't informed in a situation like this. I merely point out that you were informed you just chose to ignore the information. 90% of the complaint on here are because people don't read or want o believe in something so bad their judgement goes down the drain. Those that are scammed are rarely innocent victims. You for instance were us led in by pictures of pretty ladies and a lightly veiled promise of sex. Judgement was clouded and you lost 150 bucks. Tough lesson to learn.

  • I understand dating sites agendas, but I didn't see the 149.70. And I didn't see any pictures until I had paid the $1.99. So my judgement wasn't "down the drain" or affected by pictures. By the way, I didn't join a faith based site expecting sex. I may have missed the information but I didn't ignore it, there's a difference. If I had caught that it would be 149.70 after a one day trial, I wouldn't have even risked the trial. I'm curious do you always read through the terms of agreement and if so do you catch everything that was said in them? If so congrats, but I guess my comprehension isn't good enough to do so. The problem with the "tough lesson to learn" part is that they have lost a customer for sure, and I won't have a good word to put in for them. I sell for a living and if a customer isn't satisfied we take care of them. I've learned my lesson we'll see if Churchdate has learned theirs.
