At about 4:20 PM my phone rang and the caller ID said International Co 321-872-3220. The voice on the other end said he was calling from Sunset Pubications and wanted to update my account and reduce the cost of the package of magazines I was receiving. I asked him what magazines, I was not subscribing to any magazines. He said his records show I was receiving a package. They wanted to know if the magazine were arriving. I told him I didn't know what he was talking about and to name the magazines.He said he couldn't name the magazines he could switch me to another department and they could tell me that information. I said "OK switch me over" He said can you please verify you date of birth. I said "No.Not going to do that. Switch me over" He kept insisting that he needed to update my account. I said I need to speak to someone to find out what this 'account' is that you're talking about. He kept insisting that he couldn't switch me over without first updating my account. I told him you already have my name and my phone number that's enough. We went back and forth one or two more times - he kept insisting that he COULDN'T switch me to someone - a manager, supervisor or subscription department. Finally I told him that he should get an honest job and stop trying to steal money from people over the phone. He hung up on me. I immediately tried to call back and got a message that said " not a working number"Googled Sunset Publication and saw a complaint from another person. I don't know what kind of account they're talking about. I have not subscribed to magazines for years. I WILL BE CHECKING MY CREDIT CARD ACCOUNTS AND MONITORING THEM. Folks should be aware. How can caller ID show a number that is "not in service"?
