I had posted a framed art print for sale on Craigslist and received an initial inquiry as to its availability and condition in an email from Mark Harris <[email protected]>. After replying by email confirming that the print was still available and in excellent condition, I received the following email from John Neault <[email protected]:

Thanks for your swift response; your asking price is quite reasonable and affordable considering others I've seen lately, I'll take it. I should believe it’s in good condition as you stated. I'd have loved to come in person but am currently on Special Security and Weapons Supervisor Course. I however squeezed out time to check this posting as all personal dealings are highly restricted at the moment, I am buying this as a surprise gift for my step-son so I won't let him know anything about this until it get delivered to him. I'll be paying you by cashier's check which is attached to my bank account and its safe and very secure way to make payment. If this mode of payment is accepted just send me the following details for the payment:

The payment will be delivered to you mid this week via USPS and I will send my mover to pick it up from you once the check has been received and cashed. I will include additional $50 to your listed price as I want you to delete the ad immediately and reserve it for me.

It sounded fishy to me so I googled the contents of the email and found several sites where other Craigslist sellers had reported similar emails with just the name and/or other details slightly changed. I wanted to warn others of this name/version of the scam.
