I signed up for African Mango Metaburn on 26 July for $2.70/each postage and handling fee. Supposedly I would have a 2 week trial period. During this period, if I didn't cancel then they would charge me for the next month and send out a month's worth of products. I did not even receive an email to inform me that my order had been placed; there was no tracking information; I (still now) can't even find the website I ordered it from or customer service information online. Before my products had even arrived, I was charged AUS $83 for African Mango, AUS $72.08 for Metaburn (August 12 and 14). I couldn't cancel or contest this because I hadn't even been emailed an invoice with contact information. Finally my products arrived, but didn't come with an invoice!!! It is unclear what company produces them. The only contact details were some customer service numbers. I tried to phone them on my mobile to cancel but reception was bad and they couldn't understand me (I was calling from Australia). Before I could access a land-line I received more charges (AUS $83.99 African Mango, AUS $73.39 Metaburn on Aug 30, Sep 2) - supposedly, I imagine, for my next month's supply. The problem being that a month had not elapsed before my last charges. Not to mention I hadn't been able to trial the products for 10 days yet. Finally I was able to access a land-line and rang Customer Service to cancel my order. I asked for the charges to be refunded as I had been charged for products I had not been able to trial, as per the webpage information, but was told that I should wait 5 days to see if my products would come and then ring again, as they could only be refunded if they were returned. The person I was speaking to did not have an excellent command of the English language and it was hard to communicate adequately, so I allowed the conversation to be terminated and went online to research this further. After reading online stories about this and similar companies, I have cancelled my Mastercard so that no further charges can be applied. I am not sure whether it is worth ringing again to try get my money back. To be honest, I was worried from the moment I didn't get an email confirming my order, but I had already given my card number and hence was fairly powerless. Additionally, I regularly shop online and have never had any problems. If only I cancelled my card at that first intuition.
