I received an SMS text message this morning saying I won a $1000 Best Buy card -- all I needed to do was click through to [ http://www.bestbuycontest.com ] and fill out some information for a Disney DVD and a ginsu knife clubs -- including providing my credit card info. I figured it was slick marketing, and I would just cancel the clubs & keep the $1000 Best Buy Card. I couldn't wait to surprise my wife with the good news. Jeez -- I work in technology, and this was a VERY WELL DONE CROSS-PLATFORM SCAM. By nighttime, I already had one fraudulent card-present transaction for $50 in a fireworks / engraving physical storefront in Los Angeles (but I live in San Francisco, and was there all day) -- info I got from Bank of America, which I got when I called in and immediately cancelled my card. //jp
