They underhandingly sell you magazines priced for the next 5 years with no control of subscriptions or way to contact to change/cancel the subscriptions I received a phone call from Sunset Publications in July on my cell phone. The company rep said she needed to verify my account information for my magazine subscriptions. I answered all of her questions & confirmed my information. It wasn't until the end of the conversation I realized that I was completing an order for magazine subscriptions. The agreement was a monthly charge of $59.95 every month for 5 years. When I heard that, I wanted to cancel right then & there. Rep said I couldn't & had to wait for a letter that would explain everything to be able cancel within 30 days. Two days later I was charged 2x's the amt, $119.90. I immediately tried to contact the co. to cancel. However, when I tried to return the call w/ the phone # they called me with I got a message saying it was disconnected. A few days later I received another phone call about reducing my fee. I told them they overcharged my account and that I wanted to cancel, then they said yuo're past your 30 days. WHAT, I never received any information to allow me to cancel as I was told. I waited for this but never received it. I wanted to stop charges w/ my CC & couldn't so my CC EXP Date was changing along with the 3#'s on back thinking they won't be able to charge me now. Not so. The charge went through even though the information changed. I now have to cancel the card. A rep called me again to "reduce my payment". I just wanted to cancel. The rep said I couldn't cancel now because it was after the 30 day cancellation period. She told me they sent out the cancellation information & that I failed to cancel within the first 30 days & that I just had to deal with it. I told her that I didn't receive anything in the mail to cancel or change which magazines I was receiving. She said that I probably tossed the letter out as junk mail. I told her that this operation was a scam & how can you feel good at night when you go home to sleep! So I just keep refusing the magazines and have canceled the CC. I'm sure they'll be calling soon.

  • Reporting to Attorney General of your state and Florida will definitely get you better results. You will get your money back and the company will have to cancel your account. They def have a collection agency working for them so if you just report to BBB, they most likely wont care and send you to collections.
