International boundaries

I signed up for a monthly membership to last one year. Instead of taking the money out of my account monthly the full year was taken out on the same day I signed up. ($192.00) I called the next day to cancel my subscription but was told the only thing they could do was downgrade me to a one month membership and refund $150 of my money.
According to their website one month is only $21.95 so where is the other 21 dollars. Shouldn't I have gotten a full refund since I canceled it the same day?
