I tendered a payment of $200 on Sept 26 for an installment on my Apple no-interest balance. The payment was due on Oct 8th. I was balancing my checking account yesterday and noticed the check had not been cashed. I called and got a apathetic response which leads me to believe this is company policy.

Below is a statement I placed on the US Senate Banking Committee’s web site.

I am writing this note to bring to your attention a little scheme that Barclay's Bank in association with Apple Corp. is currently perpetrating on a trusting public.
When you purchase an Apple product on line directly from Apple you are encouraged to see if you qualify for a no interest loan offered by Barclay's credit card.
The scheme works like this. The offer is to pay for your computer in installments over a 12 month period. However if you miss a payment you are charged 27% for the entire amount till the dept is discharged.
If you choose to pay by mail they simply “lose” your tendered payment and their loan- shark rate begins.
I am sure (because I put this out on two social networks and the response was staggering) this has happened to thousands of people already. Usually Barclays pulls this missing check routine around the second or third payment. Please look into this underhanded practice.
