I was contacted by a representative at Country Club Quarterly in August 2012 to place an advertisement for my small business in their Country Club Magazine in a local area. I read through the agreement and knew I had 3 days to withdraw my payment if I chose to. After re-evaluating my decision and realized that I did not plan to keep my small business through the entire year of my advertisement subscription, I called the company and asked that I have my money refunded because I no longer wished to advertise in their magazine. They verbally agreed to refund my money however, as an extra measure I emailed the company so that there would be a written record of my request. I was within my 3 day contractual limit and had received a verbal agreement to receive my refund. It is now two months later, I have talked to numerous people as well as the head guy in charge of the money. During our last conversation he informed me that the company was under "attack" and many people were asking for refunds and that since he paid everyone else their refunds he did not have $600 to give me mine. He said he was in the process of a reorganization of the company and would give my money within a couple weeks. I requested a written email detailing what he explained to me. That was 3 weeks ago, I never received the email I requested and I cannot get a hold of him or anyone within the company. I am surprised that I have not found any information about their scam and I am frustrated that they have gotten away with this.
