We called in this firm to put eaves-guard round our lower floor roof, to fix a leaking gutter, to reposition a slipped tile on the main house roof and to paint rendering and decorative woodwork on the front and back of the house. After payment (they requested cash and unfortunately I was not around when they were paid), inspection revealed that the eaves-guard had simply been slipped under the tiles on top of the roof felt. The correct fitting requires cutting back the roof felt and then fixing the eaves-guard under the remaining felt, overlapping the sections of eaves-guard (which they had abutted) and securing to the rafters (no securing had been done). As well as fitting the eaves-guard incorrectly, they had left gaps when they ran out of sections. Additionally, the leaking gutter still leaked and where they had removed guttering, two more leaks started up. When they reseated the slipped tile on the roof, they smashed an end-stop on the guttering and said nothing about it (it’s too high for me to replace it), and I found that there was paint all over the front entrance pavers and back patio, as they had clearly not used dust sheets when applying the paint. An immediate telephone call resulted in a promise to put matters right, which never happened. I have telephoned on innumerable occasions; none of these calls met with a response and after a while and many more excuses and promises the telephone was not answered. I hand-delivered a number of letters to the firm's address - at first pleasant requests for them to return and put right the work, and then of an increasingly threatening nature. It turned out that the address is rented out by Elloughton Roofing's proprietor who lives at an unknown location in Hull, so I have no way of contacting him directly. This started up in February and it is now nearly October. This firm is still advertising locally and I am anxious that no one else should fall foul of their incompetence and appalling customer service. They also trade under the name of 'Elloughton Aerials'.
