I saw an ad on the website Gumtree from a man that claimed to be selling two tickets to Download Festival 2012 at £180.00 a piece.
I rang the telephone number featured on the ad to make sure he still had them to sell.
I asked him if he had a PayPal account so it would be a secure payment of the money but he said he didn't have it set up. I went to the bank and put the money directly into his account by making a transaction. The girl behind the glass said it would be safe to do if I didn't receive the goods or if anything went wrong (she was wrong!). As soon as the money went through I rang the man back to tell him that it had gone in and so he could send the tickets to me in the post. He must have even pretended to write my home address down earlier on. He even had the cheek to ask me to pay for the postage.
I tried ringing numerous amount of times in order to try and speak with him again but it was as though he had disappeared. My money was in his bank account and the tickets never came. The terrible truth slowly dawned on me.

It is truly awful to be a victim of this. He took away me and my boyfriends festival away from us. We couldn't afford to buy some again.

I am sure this man will no doubt still be posting false ads on this website because he knows he can get away with it. That is the worst thing. I rang the police and shockingly, they weren't willing to look into it.

Out of anger, I spent hours and hours trying to track him down. I finally found him on Youtube. He also has a website. I put two and two together. The videos on his website matched his address on Google Maps. He lives at 72 Swallow Crescent, Ravenshead, Nottinghamshire NG15. It's the worst thing to know where someone lives yet not being able to do anything. The police don't care and even the fraud squad didn't bother getting back to me.

If anyone else sees an ad on Gumtree to contact Mark Anthony, then please do not fall for what I did. He has also been recently pretending to sell Samsung Galaxy phones and other things. I know this because his telephone number is the same as the one saved on my phone.

This shouldn't be allowed to go on any further. What hurts is the fact that it will be happening to lots of other people too and the police do not care. It is just the same as someone walking down the street and taking that money directly out of your hand. People who work hard for their money do not deserve to have it taken from them in order to receive nothing back from the seller. I am disgusted. It makes me sick with anger to think about this.
