I was looking for an apartment, saw a listing at craigslist and inquired for it. A Karen Castens answered back, letting me know that it is her unit. She said she was out of the country, and is in the UK. She sent me an application form. She seemed legite and nice. She said I am ok to rent her place, so she stated the agreement and asked for the deposit. She said she will send the keys & documents after she received the payment. Before I sent the deposit, I asked for the Lease Agreement. She was able to send it to me with a signature of her lawyer. I sent the $600 deposit thru western union, and she said she already sent the keys and documents thru fedex. I received an email from fedex but did not receive any tracking#. I then followed up fedex, they said no package is on way for my address. I then doubted, asked her for the refund and she told me her lawyer will get back at me.
I read all the fraud schemes, and it looks like it is fraud. What will I do?
