On 7/18/2012 we purchased a 2011 KIA Sorrento from Deland KIA. During the consideration process we took the vehicle for a test drive and at that time I asked the salesman, Mark Slimon, who we were dealing with if the vehicle was a 4-cylinder or a 6-cylinder and was told it was a 6-cylinder. Again when completing the paperwork for the vehicle it was not shown anywhere whether the vehicle was in fact a 6-cylinder so I questioned Mr. Slimon again to just verify that it was a 6-cylinder and not a 4-cylinder - I was then assured that it was a 6-cylinder and I proceeded to tell Mr. Slimon that I did not want a 4-cylinder and could not purchase a 4-cylinder because we had to carry a mobility scooter and a 4-cylinder would not be able to handle it that is why I was questioning it so intently - again he assured it was a 6-cylinder. WELL, our insurance company just informed us that in-fact our vehicle was a 4-cylinder. We were directly lied to more than once by this salesman after my specifically addressing the issue with him! We were sold and now are paying (a large sum)for a vehicle we specifically stated we DID NOT WANT. This car barely moves when hauling the scooter up the smallest of inclines - it revs up terribly when starting from a stopped or slowed position - it will not last us, it is not made to carry our mobility scooter which is a neccessity! I am livid! I DO NOT WANT THIS 4-cylinder vehicle, I want and need a 6-cylinder. How can it be legally binding for a saleman to outright lie to a direct question (never mind several times)concerning a major detail of a vehicle that is being considered for purchase. Was it due to the fact we are women, disabled, or did he feel we were just stupid? Is this common practice for KIA? Is this acceptable practice? What recourse do we have - any? Paying outrages payments for a vehicle we do not want and will not meet our needs - made it perfectly clear could not use any 4-cylinder vehicle.

  • Seeking Resolution: Other
  • Provide vehicle with required 6-cylinders, with same or better mileage, same or newer year, same or less money. Refund won't work - need vehicle, they sold my trade and I need a reliable vehicle. Want the vehicle I was told I was purchasing!
