On 02/26/2012 we went to Elmbrook for a pre-planned induction to deliver a baby.
We are billed a charge of $848 (56342850) for Obstetrical admission.
For 6 months I was unable to get a specific response on why we were being billed $848.
Finally, today the hospital explains the charge to be for one measurement of vital signs and uterine activity conducted at 2100 hours on 56342860.
We think it is an unfair charge of $848 since
- There was a RN who did ALL the monitoring using ONE SET of equipment to measure the vital signs (3 times), fetal assessment and uterine activity (10 times) covered under 56342860 ($840) for the 3 hour period.
This information was provided by the nurse auditor from Wheaton.
To bill us another $848 separately only for the first measurement is an outrageous hospital billing gimmick to extort money.
