I had a heart attack was taken to hospital, I am a disabled veteran, so I had VA medical benefits to cover my bills. My wife called VA on Friday 11/23/2007 to get authorization code for the hospital & medical charges to be covered by them. On Monday 11/25/07 when I was being discharged my gave the billing department all the pertinent information for them to bill the VA. We found out later that they didn't bill VA but they billed an old insurance company that I had before I was reinstated for VA benefits. We have disputed this many times with the hospital, credit bureau & the VA. The VA says they would definitely have covered the charges, but the Hospital chose not to bill them. We cannot possibly pay this bill. We went to Hospital they said they would bring it up @ board meeting because we certainly would qualify for a hardship case. We haven't heard anything from them in over 2 years. It remains on my credit report & may possibly affect my getting my home refinanced. I would greatly appreciate any help you can give us with this, as it would really be a hardship for me to have to hire an attorney.Thank You, Michael G. Otto
