The owner allowed for his apprentice to tattoo unsupervised and I now have a tattoo that is mispelt and I find it to be very embarrassing when others ask me what it means. I have been advised by several other tattooist that it can't be fixed. I have been into the store and asked for a refund and they refused then i asked if they would do my cover up tattoo but they want to charge me full price and is more than I had been quoted by others.

  • After unsuccessfully reporting a complaint on "A Current Affair" which ultimately backfired and made Kirsten look stupid according to comments on A Current Affairs Face Book page, i will now, YET AGAIN, tell the real facts.
This tattoo was done over 10 months ago by former sub contractor STACEY RENEE. Kirsten brought in the font herself and after Stacey and former receptionist, MICK GRIFFITHS told her the font "looked a bit odd", Kirsten still wanted to go ahead with it. Kirsten then saw the stencil, saw the carbon stencil on her back and then she approved the go ahead. Kirsten claims she didn't notice the tattoo until someone in the street pointed it out??? Unlikely story. The first i, Dean Macdonald, current Apprentice/Shop Manager of Living Colour Skin Art was in the 2nd week of September when she came to complain. I offered to re-do the whole tattoo, free of charge, even though i was under no obligation to do so. She then pulled out a pic of 2 large flowers and inquired about a cover up. The tattoo was valued at $450 and i offered to do it for $250, again, even though the onus was not on me to do so. The next week, i was confronted by A Current Affair, which i was more than happy to talk to...although they only played approx 2 mins out of 15 mins of recorded footage. After i asked Kirsten why it took her so long to come back in, she said she had been busy, yet she claims to have visited several other tattooists??? Living Colour Skin Art did everything to try and make Kirsten happy, even though i nor the shop owner did the initial tattoo and neither of us are obliged to do anything. Chase the tattooist who actually did the job Kirsten, not the shop! My guess is your just sick of the tattoo YOU PICKED YOURSELF and are chasing a free cover up. After your behavior, i am withdrawing the offer to do your cover up CHEAP and you are no longer welcome in our shop. Hope your 15 seconds of fame (lol) was worth it. Dean =)
