I met the phony George Heacock on an on-line dating service. We had been heavily corresponding on-line, and on the telephone. His story was that he owns a fine jewlery business who just got a new contract that required him to fly to Africa to buy pure gold bouillons and raw diamonds to meet the jewelry design contract. His trip to Africa was the weekend before he was to meet with me. While in Africa, he had trouble coming out of Africa due to the customs for his "materials". He pleaded for financial loan to help him out and asked for $7,000 cash to buy a plane ticket back home. Then, he needed money to pay for the custom taxes of $15,000. He requested that I send the $7,000 by sending three separate money grams to Ghana, City of Accra. This is because the money grams get there within 10 minutes, and a traditional wire would take up to a week due to the international wire process and delays. His tone and attitude changed when I told him that I couldn't send him anymore money for the custom taxes.

I have since learned that there is a real George Heacock living at the exact address that the phony George Heacock had been using, so his identity had been stolen. I have also found the phony George on many other on-line dating services. I have since been notifying all dating services of this scam.

The real George Heacock told me that I am the 13th known victim of this exact scam. The other 13 victims were told the same story, emails and pictures. There is an existing police report and case assigned with the Los Angeles Police Department. Additionally, I have filed a police report in Boston, Massachusetts.
