  • This person has been harassing the animal rescue over the internet. She has been having her friends do the same based on all lies. She says in her own complaint that we are doing good things and it's a great process. There are not things going on that the volunteers don't know about... as I am a volunteer and have been for over 3 years. We have proof that her claims are false and of her slanderous and harassment against a great organization. She has proven why someone would not allow her to pick up a dog from their home...because she does not show signs of sanity. She is someone that didn't get her way on something and her way to react is to throw a fit and make up lies about the condition of a dog. This wasn't the first adoption the organization has done. There would be no way that we would have successfully adopted more than 800 dogs if her claims and accusations were evenly remotely true.

It's so disappointing that this person doesn't put her focus on the dog and rather spends her time trying to bring down a rescue that is doing so much good... she admitted that herself. I hope she gets a life and enjoys her time with a great dog that she is so lucky to have been approved to adopt and stops this nonsense.

  • I love the documented proof that I have seen too...with my own eyes, the statement from the vet that poor Laura (Now Princess)had going on with her, and wrong with her...what do you folks have to say about that? The vet is lying? I hardly think so.

As for her sanity, I have known her for over 35 years. She has been rescuing dogs for many, many years. She is quite sane, thank you. The only reason she wasn't allowed to come to the home where "Laura" was being kept is probably because of embarrassment of the so called founder of the so called rescue organization (I use this term loosly in regards to them) for the squalor that Laura lived in there.

So go ahead and throw out there how you are going after her for slander etc. You can only claim slander when what is being said is untrue! Which this case, everything being said is THE TRUTH. Nothing more, nothing less.

As for her focusing on her dog, rest assured that she is. Big time. And spending much money on vet bills, due to the terrible condition this dog was in.

You people are what gives legitimate rescues a bad name, and put us in a bad light.

They finally issued a warrant for the arrest of Tamira Thayne, the founder of Dogs Deserve Better, for the exact same kind of bs that this so called rescue is pulling.

Be aware, your turn is coming. It all comes out in the wash, and we are very very busy doing the wash for you scandalous people. And we will not rest until you are out of business and done mistreating these poor animals.

Is that clear enough for you all???

  • So, what you are saying is that her vet is NOT lying and our vet is, right? You just said yourself that you hardly think a vet would lie. We look forward to having our day in court and reclaiming Laura as the Adoption Contract has not been fulfilled and the Roush's do not own the dog. We are very concerned that this dog has been physically harmed in order to fulfill a vendetta and cannot wait to get her away from there.

  • You are insane. The dog has been physically harmed? Yes...the day in court is something we all are looking forward to.

I'd absolutely love to see the vet records you claim to have...especially the date of her last visit.

You will not win, you folks screwed up big time...because the people who adopted her are very well versed in the rescue world.

But go ahead, talk your tripe. We've got police back up...and when the (Inappropriate Content Removed) hits the fan and it all blows up in your face, you can apologize to the Rousch's for even saying that dog has been harmed.

She thinks she died and went to heaven, compared to the nasty life you had her living in.

Oh, and we will be posting vet records, and statements, about all that was wrong with her...including the urine that was saturated in her hair.

Maybe you should shut up while you are ahead. You are making yourselves look like the asses that you are.

  • A little background on the dog in question. In July of 2011, the dog, a Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier we named Laura, was rescued with a large group of dogs from a puppymill situation in Missouri. This information was clearly stated on Laura’s webpage. Laura was seen by our veterinarian upon arrival into Rescue. She was spayed, had a mammary mass removed, had a complete dental including extractions and had two large masses removed from her neck at a cost of $510.06. Laura was here with us at the Rescue for more than a year waiting for adoption.

On 7/19/2012 Mrs. Roush and her husband, John, applied to adopt Laura. The Roush’s were interviewed by two of our adoption coordinators and were spoken to extensively about puppymill dogs. They were instructed to read our webpage that gives information about puppymill dogs, their issues and such.

On 7/28/2012, one of our adoption coordinators, Tonya Wood, traveled to the Roush’s home to meet them in person and also spoke with them again about puppymill dogs.

On 7/29/12 the Roush’s were approved for adoption and were sent the adoption contract and instructions by email. They were given more than ample time to read and to familiarize themselves with the terms of the contract.

On August 4, 2012, Mrs. Roush and her husband, John Roush, came to Kansas City to adopt the dog in question. They met Laura and were given the opportunity to “inspect” her prior to the adoption. They commented on a small scab near her tail and some goop in one eye both of which I saw and neither were anything out of the ordinary for a rescue dog. They claimed to have seen a flea which I did not see. Despite seeing and commenting on these items, the Roush’s chose to continue with the adoption and did sign the Adoption Contract and pay their adoption fee of $300 in cash. They had paid the microchip fee by Paypal.

  • Laura’s shot record was emailed to the Roush’s in the early morning hours on 8/6/12. Laura was seen by our veterinarian on 7/6/12 at which time she was examined, given a rabies shot and scanned for a microchip. No health issues were found at this examination. She was given a parvo/distemper shot by myself on this same date. The identifying sticker of said shot can be found on Laura’s rabies certificate. As I did not have a copy of the microchip number, I contacted the vet and asked that it be faxed to me. I was there when the vet scanned her and he showed me the number on the screen on the microchip scanner and wrote it in her record. Unfortunately, the vets handwriting was hard to read and the receptionist transcribed it incorrectly which resulted in my giving Mrs. Roush the incorrect number. I subsequently found the correct number on the original paper given to me by the vet and this number was provided to Mrs. Roush by email on 8/9/12. Said microchip number has been registered with the manufacturing company, AVID, which shows that this is a valid AVID Microchip number and that the chip has been registered to Laura.
In addition to being seen by my veterinarian on 7/6/12, Laura was groomed the day before she was picked up by my groomer. The owner, will be happy to verify this and will verify that Laura showed no signs of being sick, had no live fleas and was not in bad condition. The owner did inform me, when I contacted her about these allegations, that she found a pimple like lump on Laura which she squeezed the contents out of and cleaned but forgot to tell me about. Other than that she saw no issues with Laura or her skin.

On Monday, 8/6/12, Mrs. Roush began complaining about Laura and saying she was “ill”. Said she had sores all over her body and something called “wick-worm”. I have no idea what that is, I have never heard of it. We have never been provided any information from any veterinarian in regards to these allegations.

  • I am sure that Laura did, in fact, have some sort of internal parasites. We have a kennel situation here with new dogs coming in from puppymills all the time. All of these dogs are infested with parasites. No matter how often we treat the dogs, new dogs come in and re-infect them. There is no way in this situation to stop this from occurring as the parasites are shed in feces and then get into the soil itself. This is talked about on the puppymill survivors page of the website and both of the coordinators who interviewed the Roush’s spoke with them about this as well. We tell everyone who adopts a dog from the kennel here that they will have to treat the dog for parasites after adoption in order to eradicate them. Mrs. Roush also has claimed there is no microchip which is also false unless she had it surgically removed.

  • As Mrs. Roush was making false claims and was unhappy with Laura, she was immediately told we would cancel the adoption and refund all of her fees. Mrs. Roush refused to return the dog for a full refund and began a campaign of spreading lies on our Facebook pages and after she was blocked had friends of hers do the same. I do have copies of the posts she has made to both her personal Facebook page as well as posts to the Rescue’s Facebook page.

Bottom line is, Mrs. Roush and her husband signed a Adoption Contract that stated:

“2. No Representations: Adopter hereby declares that no representations about the nature, condition or health of Dog nor any representations regarding the nature and extent of legal liability or of financial responsibility have induced Adopter to sign this contract.”

“3. Health/Temperament Disclaimer: Rescuer makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health and/or temperament of Dog. Dog is adopted AS IS and Adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other physical or temperament-related conditions that may occur in the future. Rescuer will provide Dog with the basic vaccines and sterilization before adoption. Adopter understands that, while Rescuer makes every effort to place only healthy animals in a new home, Rescuer cannot guarantee the health of any animal and shall not be held responsible for any medical expenses that may be incurred by Adopter. Rescuer expressly excludes any implied or express warranties of merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose, including but not limited to, any warranties regarding the health or temperament of Dog.”

  • hey pam, last time i checked you didnt adopt the dog so using the term "we" is pretty funny. i guess when bonnie said she read the puppymill section and q&a on the site she was lying, if she really had she would have known that all dogs can get parisites and i actually have seen the kennel and yard, looked fine to me. i have worked for the rescue for 5 years and no one else has ever complained about one of our dogs.sorry but its seems like bonnie has nothing better to do but complain and make slanderous remarks about people, if laura is in such bad shape shoouldnt she be focusing her time there?

  • Wendy you can say what ever you want about me, but this is about the dogs...Everything I have said is true and I have pictures, vet reports, & other documents to back my claim. Its funny how you said Laura had been with you over 1 year, but it is sooooo sad she had to be re-rescued from your organization that rescues animals. Sorry to disappoint you but Laura had more then parasites from puppy mill dogs coming into your rescue. The heat is on you will see your day in court, the right people and firms have all the documents that they need to move forward with shutting you down. I can't wait until I am out in front of your home video taping since you won't be able to hold the camera in your hands. By the way your threats don't scare me, I am working with the Chief of police, Sheriff department and other higher ups, they have all my original documents to move forward to the next step. Oh I forgot I have contacted some of the news station, maybe you should watch....

  • Wendy in order to file suite on someone for malicious and slanderous lies it first must be a lie, sorry to inform you there has been nothing but the truth from this side. I should be the one filing suite for slander, malicious and harassment by your organization, I have been informed to file suite just haven't moved forward yet, but that may be next. I would only do this because Laura is not able to speak and someone needs to stand up for her, by the way Laura has never been happier, she loves us so much, she is happy she has food, clean water, medicine that got rid of all her illnesses, she loves she is able to sleep in a clean environment, she loves her walks everyday.....I have no more to say except I will see you soon...

  • Nice way to cover your (Inappropriate Content Removed) about the micro chip....you can register any micro chip to any dog...but the fact remains that there is no microchip in Laura, and you people look like cats covering (Inappropriate Content Removed)in a litter box, the way you are scrambling to cover your asses.

And yes, I say WE...as my organization has joined forces with the Rousch family and Laura, to close you down, and expose you for what you really are.

Your threats scare NONE of us, since we have gone through all the right channels and done this the legal way.

I've got to say, I got a hell of a chuckle out of someone who claims to operate a rescue who has never heard of wickworms. All I can say is '"WOW".
    Oh, and good luck maybe...

  • No such thing as "wickworms", please stop using it, you sound extremely foolish.

I'm not sure why this is even being debated on an on-line forum.

The rescue actually has physical documents showing not only was the dog taken care of, but that just prior to leaving the physical custody of the rescue, the dog was ok. Not only that but video and photos of the dog (Laura/Princess) were taken before leaving rescue. Dog looks good, yard looks good, tub used to bath the dog looks good.

Everything else (everything) is mere hearsay from a "vet" (that was never contacted by the rescue as incorrect/false info was given by the adopter), by a "friend", and by the adopter herself.

When an adopter of a puppy mill dog is telling all and sundry about how well the dog is doing (going on walks even?!) in such a short period of time, most in the actual rescue community know this to contain more than a mere whiff of deceit.

I would ask the rescue to please regroup, recommit to your purpose again (truly saving puppy mill dogs), and try to please not feed the trolls.

Bernice Revitzer Rousch and "Pam"- :{ You know what- it's not worth it. You are not worth it. Why--because there are real people out there every day making a difference, and then there are you people...for shame!

  • I am so laughing, thanks for the good laugh. Funny, how you all have the little fake names, Bernice and I are actually using our own, and signing in through FB, yet we are "trolls".

Charlie Sheen pretty much burned that one out...sorry.

And there is way more than a slight whiff of deceit...I mean the information received from the microchip company, thats a dead give away about the deceitful ways of this rescue.

So it is obvious that the shame you so generously throw out there belongs to this "rescue" organization. And yes, good advice, they def need to regroup...because when the IRS comes calling...the police...ugh, the many many people that will be coming to call, and investigating, well I'm afraid even the best regrouping will not save them.

As for your comment about the real people making the difference, well concerned person, my rescue records speak for themselves...along with the many happy animals that I have rescued, who are now in their own furever homes.

So you all keep throwing the smoke screen out there, and trying to keep the public confused. This didn't work for Dogs Deserve Better, and the high and mighty there have finally fallen.

I am only wondering if there might be adjoining cells, then you could compare notes with those who also thought that by bashing the folks telling the truth, they could save themselves. (Doubt its going to work for any of you either.

And when Bernice does finally scan and begin posting all the proof that has been gathered, well lets just say I hope you have some smelling salts. You are going to need them.

So yes, please, instead of posting more tripe online, please do regroup. You are really going to need it.

  • Laura had a 2/5 body score, mucoid and crusting visible around both eyes and nares. Infested with fleas & Ticks, (Milary dermatitis, alopecia, pruritus) Whipworm and Hookworm eggs and camplobacter organisms in high quanity. Sink infection & intestinal infection, diarrhea, dehydrated and no micro chip, should I say more? These are the facts that have been turned over to the authorities with pictures and other documents. Yes its funny how you keep using fake names when the people telling the truth give their real name. Wendy Wheaton Cusick your turn will come soon, until then this should keep you busy doing your research.
