On August 22nd of 2012 I called to cancel my service with Guardian Protection Services. They refuse to cancel unless I buy out the 60 month contract they claim I signed up for, this will be around $1,600 which, I'm told, is more than I would pay if I just keep the service as they, of course, advise me to do. I explain that I would never agree to a 60 month contract for security monitoring, that this would be silly due to the constant advances in technology. They offer to send me a the contract I had signed. I request the document be emailed to me.

Their document dated January of 2010 shows a 60 month agreement, which appears to have my signature, but not the signature of their representative. I then find my copy of the contract, which differs greatly from theirs. Mine shows a 36 month agreement, which is dated March of 2010 and is signed by myself and their representative. I send them a copy of this contract and ask what exactly they're trying to do here. The supervisor I'm working with tells me she will get back to me tomorrow after doing some research.

A week goes by with my having sent three unanswered emails to this supervisor. She finally answers me on August 29th of 2012 after I tell her I'll be calling back into the customer service number and escalating the issue all over again. She tells me she has done the requisite research and will call me later that day. She never called.

Having not heard from the supervisor by 5pm, I decide to call customer service again. The representative tells me that the contract I provided, despite post-dating the contract they have on file, has been voided. I'm never able to get a straight answer on the reasoning in use here. One claim was that the agreement I provided was for a keyfob and not actual service, though it clearly states all that I am signing up for 36 months of service and purchasing the alarm kit. Another claim was that the agreement I provided was for a system takeover, not an entirely new system, which, again, is disproved by the fact that the alarm kit is clearly shown, and priced, on my agreement. I go through two escalations and speak to another supervisor who tells me she needs to do even more research and will call me the following day.

It is now the following day and I have not heard from anyone at Guardian Protection Services. I feel that I am in the midst of a scam and I am powerless to do anything.
