On Jan 20 2012 we booked & paid for 2 tickets return to London via Singapore. Next day we received our e-tickets confirming flights. 48 hrs before we were to depart Perth (14.4.12) checking on-line saw that our (seats) from Singapore - London had been cancelled. Qantas did not even notify us of this. After a very stressful and consuming time & right up until 24hrs before we were due to leave qantas eventually put us on a 'milk-run' flight which took 37hrs to travel to london flying Perth-Sydney.Tokyo-Frankfurt-London. The Customer Service Dept of Qantas was disgraceful & we were told we should have been checking every week, nothing could be done and the onus was us to check. Our complaint is that we were not notified by Qantas & they have stated in a letter to us that they did not get their ticketing to BA in time so BA cancelled, Qantas did not notify us. We would have arrived in Singapore & had no on-going flight. We had connecting flights in London on the 15th April. Also there is a difference of $1405 between what we originally paid & the re-scheduled flight & this is what we are asking for. Qantas sent us a $300 voucher which would not get you a one way ticket to Adelaide. We have returned them & once again said we want the compensation in fare (monetary) or vouchers to the value. How can they take your money, then cancel your seats & not notify the customer of the change. We will be fighting this all the way. We feel they are trying to appease us the whole time.We are both seniors and found it all very stressful. I have also advised the Airline Customer Advocacy & they are looking at the matter. We would appreciate any further avenues we can take with this. Qantas are a huge company and their latest advert is 'Your the reason we fly'. We dont think so.
