Saw the seller was selling camera thru amazon.com. I contacted him as per the info at amazon.com. I told him I do not have the funds at that time and has asked to hold the item until I will get the money. He said he will contact amazon.com to take it out from the market. Received an email from amazon stating to pay thru western money union (as stated in the email received from amazon), after being paid, did not respond back to any emails. Amazon stated they do not recognize the seller.

- The same thing happened to me but it was with a phone. I contacted Amazon and they said they had no records of such a person.

- No, I was told that since the transaction did not technically occur on their website, they couldn't refund me the money, but I was told to file a claim

- Sucks! I dont know how they are able to allow sellers like that on their site and not take responsibility for it. Worst to say they dont know the seller!

I contacted "seller" 8/20/12 for more info and received this: "Hello,
The Canon EOS 5D Mark III 22.3 MP Full Frame CMOS Digital SLR Camera is new condition, ( it just had to be listed as 'Used - Like New' as the box has been opened)
Comes with all manufacturer supplied accessories, USA model,1 year full warranty.
It has not been used. The price is $ 1553 + $3.99 for delivery ( 1 - 3 days ).
Return policy is full money back in 30 days. If you want to buy send me your full name and delivery address to have your order placed with Amazon.
Thank you"
The listed price was minimally $1000 cheaper than comparable used Mark IIIs, so it sounded too good to be true. -

The "[email protected]" "seller" has this sender IP info:
Received: from mail-lb0-f196.google.com (mail-lb0-f196.google.com [209.85.217.196])
Authentication-Results: mx.google.com; spf=pass (google.com: domain of [email protected] designates 209.85.217.196 as permitted sender) [email protected]; dkim=pass [email protected]
Incidentally, this sender appears to use a hacked IP address to cover his tracks, as listed here: http://www.projecthoneypot.org/ip_209.85.217.196
Hopefully someone can track this person down for law enforcement. -

- Fortunately I did not go ahead and order it, though I considered it seriously. Days later I re-contacted the "seller" to see if it was still available and didn't hear any reply. When I saw no reference anymore on Amazon to the seller, I started investigating doing a web search.
