On 29th Febuary 2012 I had 16 Solar Panels fitted by the above company. When I checked the meter I realised that it was not registering, so I phoned to report this. I was told that a new meter would be fitted. It took several phone calls before eventually
Gary Keeys visited on 5th April to check the problem and he told me that it was in fact the Inverter which was faulty. He sorted the problem and got the meter working. I asked about compensation for the period when I had earned nothing and we agreed that a sum of £100.00 was fair. He said that he would ensure that a cheque for this amount would be issued within the next 2/3 weeks. After another 2 weeks I emailed Gary Keeys but did not receive a reply. I emailed him again and was asked to submit all the details again. I sent all the details again but no reply so I submitted all the details again but to date I have not even had the curtesy of a reply despite several reminders.

  • I Gary Keeys would like to put the record straight. The company, Deans Electrical who carried out the installation are based in Glasgow and prior to starting work in the Solar industry were trained by the company I worked for as a PV Trainer based in the east midlands. Mrs Manley purchased a PV installation from a solar energy company who then used Deans Electrical to install it. After it was completed Mrs Manley reported that it was not functioning correctly. Deans Electrical contacted me who at that time was giving them technical advice as part of the training companies remit. They stated the fault and asked me if I could help them find a solution, after asking the error code I advised them that they needed to contact the inverter manufacturer and take advice from them as I was not familiar with the fault code. The invereter manufacturer reported that a firmware upload was required as there was an internal software problem. Deans Electrical then contacted me and asked if I knew how to do this which I said I did. They asked that as the Installation was only ten minutes from where I worked and they were a five hour drive away if it would be possible for me as a favor to carry out the upgrade which only takes a few minutes. This I agreed to do. Whilst there I was asked by Mrs Manley if she had lost any production and I agreed she had. Mrs Manley then went on to ask whether or not she would be entitled to compensation. I said that if it had been my work then I would of offered compensation but I was not in a position to do so on behalf of Deans Electrical but I would speak to them and ask them to pay her a token gesture of £100 in lieu of me receiving any expenses for the work carried out. I then left.I contacted Deans Electrical and reported the situation in full. I know longer work for the training company who's email address Mrs Manley is trying to contact me on. Mrs Manley is wrong in mentioning my name and I want it removing as her complaint is not with me.
