I have purchase a car from a private sale this was the first time i had bought a car. I had really needed a car because i was in school with two kids in to different daycare. Not knowing or informed by anyone on what to do when getting a car before putting it in my name had went to the ministry an advise them i am a first time buyer what should i do. At this time they said i need to purchase a package and get insurance and come back with the money for the taxes. After doing all of the i had now been driving the car and notice somethings wrong with it. I had brought it to a dealership an was told then that the car was piece together an it was in a accident. After finding this out i had place the car up for sale because it was a safety concern in my head and was told from the person who sold it to me nothing was wrong with it. After putting the car up for sale someone had bought it. Then i had got a car from the buyer that they could not plate the car because there was a lien on it. Not knowing what that was i had called the ministry to ask what a lien was and was advise to do a lien search which i did and found that it was on the car from 2007. I had to give back the person there money and take back the car. After doing so i woke up couple days after an found the car gone. I had called the police thinking it was stolen at the time later to find out the lien company came an picked it up. (THEY FOUND IT FROM THE AD I HAD UP FOR SALE) To try an cut the story short its very long i was told if the car was in an accident there should have been a pay out from the insurance company. There was a pay out the lien company did not get it. I was offered the money i was out of for the car an for my rental cost but not including the insurance money. Td insurance had offer me money and was to be pay out from May 25 2012. I did not get anything from them till July 17 2012 because they said they had to get legal advise an this was after i signed a release form that was sent out to me on June 14 2012. After all of that i was left to pay $1762.80 out of pocket because of there (DELAY) and was told i should be thankful i am getting anything because after getting there legal advise after already settling with me they were told they do not have any rights to me. Could not get a lawyer because just for them to look over anything it would have cost me $750.00. I want to know what kind of help i can get. Because under the Ontario law they should have made sure the lien was cleared before selling it in to the market. (Car purchase January 2012 and repo April 2012)
