An eager girl came to my house selling magazine subscriptions. She claimed to be working towards a prize to go on some trip. She showed me her information, including what looked to be a badge stating that she was an authorized salesperson for the company.
I purchased a 3 year subscription to Parents Magazine for $50.00. Then she said there was a $15.00 shipping and handling fee. She also stated that I had to pay in cash or check. I proceeded and wrote a check, thinking if this was indeed a scam it would be traceable.
I was on maternity leave at the time and had forgotten about the purchase until I came upon my receipt. After finding the receipt I called the phone number on it and to my dismay it was no longer in service/disconnected.
I didn't know if there was any other way for me to persue this until I found this website.
