Like the above, contacted by Johan Jeff for a work at home accounting position for $24.75hr. Was DSL'd a check for over $2400.00 and told to deposit it with my ATM card.
I refused, but took it to the bank for examination. It was proven to be a fraudulant check.
Mike Carrick and Johan Jeff used Yahoo's IM and their vernacular wasn't American. I asked where they were from. Jeff said he was from Yelm, Wa and Carrick said "new jersy" sic. Carrick made desperate attempts to convince me he was legitimate, made me threaten him with a report to Homeland Security. I pretended to blackmail him. Said for $10,000.00, I'd NOT contact HS. He AGREED. A short time later, I told him I didn't want his Western Union wire. Nor did I want to be checking under my car for C-4.
Not to be deterred, I received approximately 20-30 test messages, cajoling me to get to the bank, deposit the check and purchase the software for the promised laptop.
I finally told Carrick to never contact me again. This was 8-11-2012.
