A man of obviously Indian- region origin called to inform me that my computer was full of viruses and that he was from Microsoft tech support and was calling to help me get rid of them. I informed him that I had three computers and that I regularly check them with Norton antivirus ( last time was two days ago)and with PC Pro Cleaner. He tried to tell me that these were internet viruses that Norton couldn't detect. He wanted me to go to ammyy.com (not Microsoft.com) so he could fix the problem. I played along and got several results for the search. Most of them were scam alerts. I knew it was time to end this, told him I wasn't interested and read one of the scam reports to him. He said that wasn't about them and it wasn't true. I hung up. Persistent little bugger - he called right back and wanted to know why I hung up on him. Now I was pissed, so I told him that I knew this was a scam, I was reading the reports about their game, I could hear other guys of his same region in the background on phones running the same scam on other people, his phone # (M. Sethi 516-673-0621) was a personal number on my caller ID (again, not from Microsoft) and Microsoft NEVER calls people about virus reports. If you think about it, anyone has ever tried to get through to Microsoft tech support knows that there is no way they are going to call you first! I told him DO NOT call again! Just say no to these scammers - they should change their name to ammyy.CON!
